British American Tobacco

BAT history dates back to 1927 when commercial farming was introduced in Uganda. In 1928, the company built the first cigarette factory in East Africa, in Jinja Uganda. In 1949, it acquired the East African Tobacco Limited and ultimately led to the formation of BAT Uganda Ltd.
 

Hima Cement Limited

Uganda Cement industries had initially built the plant to produce 240,000 tons of cement a year, but was producing a paltry 20,000 tons by the time of privatization. When Hima took over, the management embarked on a mission to improve efficiency and increase production with the aim of maximizing the plant’s capacity.

Rwenzori Highland Tea Company Limited

Established in early 1994, Rwenzori Highlands Tea Company Limited (RHTC) has grown rapidly to become Uganda's largest single producer of black tea, responsible for over a quarter of the country's tea exports. Some $ 45 million has been invested in RHTC since 1994, with the main development phase completed at the end of 2000
